Scilla Fernandez

Scilla Fernandez is a founder member of the Bonnington Playwrights.

Her first full length play was "The Gift", based on the life of Joanna Southcott. An extract from this was performed at the Cockpit Theatre.

Other plays include "Taking Orders", set in a pizza restaurant, and "Cindy", a modern fairy tale which was performed as part of the Bonnington Garden Festival.

Her short play "Breaking Glass" had a rehearsed reading at the Arcola Theatre and was part of "3 by 3" directed by Karen Tomlin at the Hen and Chickens in Islington. This was followed by a rehearsed reading of "Seachange" at AWL in Hammersmith.

Her most recent work to be professionally performed is "What of the Night" about GF Watts' first marriage to the young Ellen Terry. This was part of the Bonnington Playwrights' collaborative work "The Quite Peculiar and Irresistible Charm of Ellen Terry", jointly produced by the National Trust and the Bonnington Playwrights in the Barn Theatre at Smallhythe.

Scilla also works as a modern languages teacher and tour guide.
